About Courtney

I am an experienced school-based educator currently working as a cover teacher and exam invigilator, giving me direct insight into how GCSE and A-Level coursework is assessed. I specialise in supporting students with Art & Design and Photography, particularly those working towards GCSE and A-Level qualifications. My focus is not just on creativity, but on helping students understand assessment objectives, structure their coursework effectively, and develop stronger annotation and portfolio presentation skills. Many students struggle not because they lack talent, but because they are unsure how to organise their ideas and demonstrate development clearly. I provide structured guidance to help students refine their themes, strengthen artist research, improve annotation quality, and plan final outcomes with confidence. Sessions are supportive and patient, but also purposeful and goal-oriented. We work through clear steps so students understand what to improve and why — building both skill and independence over time. I offer: • GCSE & A-Level coursework development support • Photography portfolio refinement • Structured improvement plans • Focused feedback aligned with assessment criteria My aim is to help students move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling organised, confident, and capable of achieving higher grades.

About the lesson

My photography lessons are structured to support students working towards GCSE and A-Level outcomes, as well as those developing a strong personal portfolio. Sessions are tailored to each student’s current project, but always aligned with clear technical and creative progression. We focus not only on taking strong images, but on understanding composition, lighting, development work, and presentation — all key areas assessed at GCSE and A-Level. Lessons may include: • Strengthening theme development and visual storytelling • Improving composition, lighting, and camera control • Developing purposeful experimentation • Editing workflow guidance (where applicable) • Writing stronger annotations and analysis • Structuring coursework and final outcomes effectively Many students struggle with demonstrating development and refinement clearly in their portfolios. I provide structured guidance to help students evidence progress and meet assessment objectives with confidence. Sessions are supportive and patient, but always purposeful — with clear steps for improvement and measurable progress over time.
