About Monika
I am a Branding Photographer in the SF Bay Area who has a background in arts education. I studied Journalism at the University of Florida and Arts Education at the Massachusetts College of Art. I taught at the Boston Arts Academy for 10 years, at City on a Hill Charter School, through My Reflection Matters Self-Directed Education community, and did a youth photography program and exhibition in the Dominican Republic. I founded Our Latina Lens, a U.S.-based community to connect support and elevate Latina photographers in the U.S. I draw from all these experiences to create custom curriculum for you.

I am an award-winning arts educator who believes that everyone has innate creativity and photography is a skill that can be learned and improved. We will create a unique learning plan depending on your goals as a photographer and can include: * beginner technical skills of how to use your digital camera, * art principles such as composition, color, balance and more * use of natural and studio/artificial light * telling stories through photography * constructive critique of your images to improve * learning about historical and contemporary photographers with a focus on those not usually included in photo history (women, marginalized racial and ethnic groups, etc.) I have worked with students in middle school, high school and adults.

First 30-min free lesson is through Zoom to go over what you know, your goals, and starting your individualized lessons.
You can pay for lessons via Paypal or Zelle.
Lessons can be done with a DSLR, mirrorless camera or smart phone.
Studio photography lessons do not include the cost of renting a studio space.
