We aren't memorizing words; we are unlocking a secret code.
By using flash cards, different reading material, sound decoding, blending, rules, Reading more books definitely helps with vocabulary, but if a child doesn't know the phonetic code, reading more books just means guessing more often. It leads to frustration. My phonics method gives them the tools to build the words themselves. It’s like giving them a map instead of just telling them to drive around until they find the destination."
