About Kerey
I'm an enthusiastic and dedicated English tutor with a strong academic background, scoring 4 in both AP Biology and AP English Literature, and demonstrating proficiency in French through the DELF exam. My teaching philosophy emphasizes personalized education, crafting tailored lesson plans based on individual student assessments and goals. I use a variety of materials such as books, cartoons, news articles, movies, and podcasts to engage students and reinforce concepts, fostering interactive and enjoyable learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and real-world connections. I provide constructive feedback and collaborate closely with students and parents to discuss progress and strategies for improvement.
My experience includes mentoring new Canadian immigrant children in reading and language skills, where I introduced age-appropriate vocabulary and reading tips, tailored activities to practice and evaluate their progress, and offered guidance on organizational and study skills. As a teacher's assistant in an ESL program, I supported students in a dynamic classroom environment, effectively communicating with both students and teachers. Additionally, as an event organizer for community outreach, I helped plan and execute engaging events, coordinated resources for disadvantaged individuals and families, and participated in initiatives to enrich our community.
My ultimate goal is to become a lawyer, driven by a commitment to education and advocacy. I believe that tutoring strengthens my communication skills, critical thinking, and understanding of language and literature, all crucial in the legal field. I aim to empower students through education, fostering their confidence and equipping them with essential skills for academic and personal success. My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable exploring, making mistakes, and growing. Every student has the potential to excel, and it's my role to help them realize and achieve that potential.
