About Davlat
I've studied philosophy, as well religion and Islamic studies, at both the undergraduate (BA, UofT) and graduate levels (MA, McGill University). Currently, I'm completing my PhD at LMU. I've also published several articles in peer-reviewed phil. journals.
In teaching, my general approach can be summed up as follows: moving from the more known and clearer to us to the better known and clearer in itself.

I consider my primary function as a tutor to be that of a facilitator. The pedagogical approach I generally employ is one that lays emphasis, through guided questions, on the student’s self-verification of the ideas presented and the possibilities raised, with a view to 1) better articulating the issues involved, and 2) provoking of critical thought about them. Through such inquiry-based instruction, I find students actively discover conceptual content to support their thinking, as opposed to merely passively receiving it from someone else.
What I enjoy most about teaching philosophy is the challenge of helping students to think independently in developing, through careful reasoning, their own views. I enjoy working with students one-on-one to help them to grow as individuals. Whatever the student’s background – conceptual and cultural - I try and tailor my lessons to meet the needs of each student.
