About Bonnie
First and foremost, I am a PhD student in the sciences, passionate about discovery and the power of knowledge, but I am also simply a lover of learning. I come from a low-income background and understood at an early age that learning about the world can be a fantastic form of escapism and empowerment. Science aside, I love history, literature and anything creative! In my academic role, I also chair our institute's student committee and engage in lots of local outreach-I feel strongly about creating supportive communities for all. To this end, I have also partaken in the creation of training modules in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion which will be used nationwide, and was trained as a mental health crisis support volunteer with Shout UK. My favourite thing about teaching is how often I find myself learning from students; each one brings a fresh insight and approach to the subject. Ultimately, I hope to not only teach others about science, but to encourage them to raise their expectations for themselves and what they can achieve. As the weathered sign above my desk says- "Never stop lurning"!

I focus on life sciences tutoring in both an academic and practical sense, tailored to your specific needs. My approach is to help you understand the subject content on a deeper level, rather than just memorise it. I find lessons up to an hour work best and I encourage students to only learn for the period of time in which they can focus and feel comfortable. I have had numerous students from secondary school age up to Master's level during my PhD and am also a registered tutor with The Brilliant Club; during my undergraduate degree I spent time working in a primary school and continue to teach science at local schools as a volunteer. I can pair my teaching with careers advice, specifically for aspiring/current Biomedical Sciences students, and students interested in a career in research. My lessons can be adapted to any level of understanding, fostering a supportive and judgement-free learning environment. I also have experience working with neurodivergent students.
