About Laura

HOLA!!! My name is Lau, I am a native Spanish speaker from Madrid (Hala Madrid!), Spain. I am an Art Historian and a Biological anthropologist currently teaching at the University (UNAM) and finishing my PhD. I have been traveling most of my life, living in 5 different countries in the last 10 years, teaching Spanish, Italian, and English to people from all over the world. This is my way of living and I love it!

About the lesson

I know how hard learning a new language can be! Don't worry, I have been there a couple of times! Each student has his/her own way of learning and my job is to discover it so we can focus on that and enhance the results. Either you want more conversational lessons or you need to get ready for your test I can help you out. We will plan the class together so we make sure we work on what you really need to learn/improve, but always focusing on speaking. I offer different options: - Take a general class: Great for basic and intermediate students. The purpose is studying Spanish using a very homogeneous method. Areas needed to be reinforced will be identified as the student moves along with different exercises. -Specific lessons: perfect if you need to get ready for a test or you just want to focus on something special (grammar or Spanish for business, for instance). Using official test books, we can approach different aspects of the Spanish language focusing on what you need the most. Accents are important too. Maybe you like the Latin American accent better or you just need to adjust yourself to the European standard, no worries, I have lived in Mexico for a while, so I can teach you both!! - Cultural lessons: For the gypsy's souls that want to avoid books and tests there is a more relaxing and intuitive way of learning this beautiful language. Studying Spanish learning about flamenco, Don Quixote or soccer? That sounds really good! Great option for people more into traveling and being able to communicate without the pressure of having to take a test!

Perfect! Laura provided an excellent first class. She immediately recognized where I was with speaking Spanish and catered the lesson to me. She provided a clear plan with next steps for lessons. I am excited to get started and "knock off the rust" has I haven't spoken Spanish in a few years. Thank you!

Perfect! Laura is an excellent tutor. She is very easygoing and lets me take things at my own pace. The first class was very informative and I like that although the class is taught purely in Spanish she is able to switch over to English if I need clarity for words or phrases. We have only done 2 classes together but I cannot wait to see how much progress I'm able to make with her and I have complete faith that I can go from my intermediate level to near fluent at the end of our 9 months together! Definitely recommend her for anyone looking for a tutor!

Perfect! Laura is an excellent Spanish teacher! She motivates me to keep learning and challenging myself. I have greatly improved my conversational skills which I was lacking. She keeps notes in the chat section of newly learned phrases, words, or expressions. She has shared numerous resources including audiobooks, videos, and grammar exercises. I look forward to my weekly lesson with her over zoom. I can highly recommend her as your Spanish teacher.

Lau is great!!! I met Lau while traveling through Europe, and she was teaching Spanish. I have always liked the language and thought I could take some classes during my vacation and see how I felt. I ended up taking 3 years of Spanish because it's super addictive! Lau is an excellent teacher!

I needed to pass the DELE B2 exam in order to enter a Spanish university with a scholarship, but I had failed my previous attempt. A friend recommended Laura to me, and from the very first lesson, I was impressed by her teaching skills. She used a variety of tools and official exam materials to prepare me, with a focus on the writing section, which I struggled with the most. With her guidance and support, I worked hard and managed to pass the exam, and even got to spend a year in Spain thanks to the scholarship.

Isn't she great? She is just the best, truly. Laura's punctuality, flexibility, and creativity make her a great instructor, but what makes her truly exceptional is her extensive experience and exposure to different cultures.

Having traveled extensively and lived in various Spanish-speaking countries, Laura brings a unique perspective to her classes. Her ability to teach both Castilian Spanish and Mexican Spanish is a great asset, and her insightful anecdotes and cultural references make the learning experience both enjoyable and informative. Plus, she is super charismatic and has a fun personality that adds a level of excitement to the class, but what really sets her apart is her deep knowledge of the language and its history. She is a cultured and knowledgeable individual who always has something interesting to say.

Regarding to our classes,I began studying with Laura when my Spanish was at a medium level, and under her guidance, I was able to make significant progress. Today, I am confident in my ability to travel and communicate in Spanish, and I have Laura to thank for that. If you are looking for a skilled and passionate language teacher, look no further than Laura.

I had the pleasure of having Laura as my Spanish teacher, and I must say she is fantastic. Laura is fun, attentive, and patient. She absolutely loves to share her vast knowledge of the language with amusing personal anecdotes that showcase the wonders of Spanish.

You can tell that Laura is highly qualified, with her doctorate and wealth of experience shining through in her teaching. She is an excellent educator, and I am grateful for all that I have learned from her. Her teaching method is highly effective, and I noticed results quickly.

One of the things I appreciate most about Laura is her honesty. She tells it like it is and doesn't give false hope that you will become fluent in two months. She is realistic, and that is what makes her such a valuable teacher. I highly recommend Laura as a Spanish teacher, and I am confident that anyone who learns from her will agree that she is one of the best.

Gracias Laura por enseñarme español. Mis viajes son "lo más!" hahaha.
