About Sayantani

I am Sayantani Chakraborty, a student of English Literature, Cultural Studies and Gender Studies.

I hold a Bachelor's degree from the University of Calcutta in English Honours and a Master's degree from Christ (Deemed to be) University, Bangalore, in English and Cultural Studies.

I am currently pursuing my PhD in English from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneshwar. I believe my instincts as a researcher will always push the teacher in me to foster curiosity, critical thinking and an added element of fun in my students.

My own relationship with studies has been quite healthy which has directed me into a field of academia. I wish to share this experience with aspiring students and relieve them of the stress they currently might be under.

Studying does not have to be a chore.

About the lesson

Students who sign up with me will benefit from a holistic and comprehensive understanding of the subjects. I aim not just to get them to score marks in exams but also to get them to care for and take an interest in the subject.

I believe in making teaching relatable and subjective which is why I prefer an interactive class which will be based on a combination of traditional lecture-based and open dialogue between student and teacher.

The classes will be 2hrs per session and after and in between each class I will make time for an interactive space where all questions will be answered to the best of my abilities.

I hope this style of teaching will spark interest and curiosity in each student which will make them eager participants in related fields in their respective post-school/degree futures.

Details

I prefer classes at my place once a week. My standard is once a week because students have busy schedules for other subjects and co-curriculars. But I am completely open to 2 classes a week and extra classes as and when a student would need them (for example, the month before exams).

Each class would be 2hrs each (Rs. 500/hour). I try to give the kids a break of 5-10 minutes since 2hrs at a stretch can be overwhelming especially when dealing with relatively complex topics.

In the case of online classes, I charge Rs. 250/hour.
