About Mikey
Mikey recived a dual BS in Physics and Applied Mathematics with highest honors from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2018. Mikey became Dr. Mikey in May 2024 after finishing his dissertation "Aspects of Mirror Symmetry for non-Fano Toric Varieties" at the University of New Hampshire. Dr. Mikey has attended international conferences and presented his research. Dr. Mikey was a TA throughout his time at RIT. While at UNH, he either taught or was supported by research fellowships. He was the principal instructor for PHYS 409: Investigating Physics for 5 semesters. Dr. Mikey wrote all the course materials for PHYS 409 and his students appreciated the organized and conceptual approach. Dr. Mikey still has several independent study students at UNH in areas such as machine learning, differential geometry, and group theory. In his spare time, Dr. Mikey plays bass with his band Clandestine.

Dr. Mikey employs Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) techniques in his teaching. These techniques teach students to think like scientists through hands-on exercises and minimal lecturing. A typical lesson plan would consist of a short lecture to solidify background material follwed by active engagment in problem solving. Following a lesson, handwitten or LaTeX notes will be available to the student. Dr. Mikey applied these methods to a physics course for non-STEM majors at the University of New Hampshire and recieved glowing reviews. As a mathematical physicist at the forefront of string theory research, Dr. Mikey can tutor for any physics, mathematics, or programming course, as well as take the student far beyond the cirriculum if they so desire. On the other hand, Dr. Mikey has plenty of experience teaching introductory college courses and tutoring for high school, so he is enthusiastic to initiate students into the beautiful world of mathematical physics.
