About Muhammad
Arabic is my major. I have taught all levels and now, a lecturer in the Dept. of Linguistics...at National Open University Of Nigeria. I understand quite a lot the problems of students of all levels, and try to proffer solutions. I take a great deal of interest in helping my students to learn. I will listen to you, be patient with you, take you step by step until you start apprehending. Relax your mind, don't be in doubt, for having me as a teacher is having a friend to speak to, and a guide to hold your hand to the gateway to Arabic.

I teach all levels; Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced students. Every level has its own language program and method of teaching. At the beginners’ level, I teach Arabic Alphabets leading to Arabic Writing, and Reading skills, using names of things to support students’ acquisition.
With the intermediates, I focus on the language skills such as Reading, Writing, Listening, Conversation. I add the knowledge of vocabularies, names of things in different areas of life such as transportation through vehicles or Airports, Hospitals, Business centers etc, through passages written in that particular area and sometimes, through virtual exposure to the areas of study.
I also add little grammar needed in this standard from syntax and morphology.
In the advanced level, all the above subjects are intensified; the writing changes to pure Arabic dictation with rules guiding Arabic writing. All the language skills are taught through separate textbooks developed specially for that purpose. For example, conversation is taught through a textbook with passages written in different Areas of life. Syntax and Morphology receive more attention and language drill.
My teaching methods include immersion, TBLI combined with CLT, Technology-based and gamified learning etc.
1. We use 100% immersion when we are in physical contact with our pupils in the schools while we use two-way immersion (70% Arabic and 30% English) during our virtual class with international pupils.
2. We use Technology-based and gamified learning tools such as Duolingo and Memrise for vocabularies, Drops for visual vocabularies, WRITE IT! for Arabic Alphabets and Writing etc, to enhance our teaching and our pupils' learning.
3. We use Text-Based Language Teaching method combined with Communicative Language Teaching method to teach our intermediate and advanced students. We use the TBLT in the class through the textbooks and then set stages where our students are encouraged to speak out on their own. This and the above are just a summary of what I do with my colleagues to help our students and pupils learn Arabic. Thanks.
