About Anne

I am a PhD graduate in Chemistry with a strong passion for science and education. I am dedicated to helping students achieve their academic goals by building confidence and a clear understanding of complex concepts. I tailor my teaching style and pace to each student’s needs, ensuring an effective and supportive learning experience, and guide students in setting realistic goals with structured lesson plans to help them succeed.

I completed my Honours degree at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, and began my teaching journey as a Teaching Assistant, conducting tutorials, laboratory sessions, and contributing to curriculum development for undergraduate students. I later completed my PhD in Polymer Chemistry at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, where I also worked as a Sessional Academic teaching core chemistry units and received positive feedback from students.

In addition, I have been actively involved in STEM outreach programs across Queensland, collaborating with universities to deliver engaging science sessions to school students. I hold a valid Queensland Blue Card (valid until April 2028).

About the lesson

I teach Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and foundational concepts for both school and university students. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s individual needs, starting with a short discussion to understand their goals. Lessons typically run for 1–2 hours, focusing on building confidence, problem-solving skills, and a clear understanding of concepts.

For online classes, I use a writing pad and stylus to replicate a blackboard-style experience, allowing students to follow along visually as we work through problems. Past papers, quizzes, and exercises are also discussed to reinforce understanding and exam readiness.

For face-to-face sessions, lessons focus on areas where the student faces challenges. Theories are discussed in depth, accompanied by targeted questions and examples to ensure full comprehension.
