About Thomas
I am graduating with my PhD in genetics the summer of 2023 and have been teaching/tutoring the natural sciences for over 9 years. My favorite subjects to teach are organic chemistry and genetics, and I have always loved the lightbulb moments when a student finally masters a difficult problem! I have also been an academic research scientist for over 5 years and have mentored 12 students who have gone on to medical school or graduate school to pursue their own doctorates.

My goal as a science educator is to accomplish two things with every student that enters my classroom: I want them to leave with an understanding of the foundational concepts of the topic, and to have developed the reasoning and critical thinking skills necessary to solve scientific problems. For this reason, I pursue a student-centered education approach that focuses on active engagement and novel problem solving.
