About MARIA
I am a PhD Chemist obtaining an Honours five-years Bachelor degree during which I have been studying all sectors of Chemistry; Inorganic, Organic, Instrumental, Analytical, Synthetic Organic, Clinical, Biochemical, Quantum, Industrial, as also Food Chemistry. My MSc degree was on Food Science at University of Reading, whereas my PhD research was carried out at the Pharmacy faculty in collaboration with Chemistry department at National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. During my PhD research I started tutoring High school students, students preparing for University entrance examinations, as well as University students of departments of Chemistry and Food Science in Athens, Greece. Through this process I realised my willing and enthusiasm to transfer knowledge to students, always focused on adjusting my way of approach according to each student needs and development potentials. In parallel, main aim is to change students’ attitude towards Sciences and Chemistry particularly, building motivation to develop and evolve themselves while setting high goals. The satisfaction I gained through all my students achieving their academic dreams through hard studying and inspiration has made me want to pursue a career on tutoring in parallel to my professional current role as Flavour Research Chemist. I follow a holistic attitude when tutoring, developing and guiding my students of all levels to achieve their goals, while advising them also in career development. I treat my students with integrity, always specialising my lesson procedure and workload according to individual needs and weaknesses. Maria was tutoring me three years when studying in High school for University entrance exam preparations. Maria managed to support me in covering all Chemistry gaps and weaknesses I had from previous years, while assisting in passing all exams, and guiding me in career development.
Maria was tutoring me in Chemistry courses during my master degree in Reading University and through her guidance I achieved to pass all modules and coursework. She was patient and focused on explaining in detail all difficult scientific parts, although I had no Chemistry background.
