About Robert
I come from the worst-rated high school in my county, I know what it's like to fail classes and struggle despite putting effort in. Despite this, I've become a confident PhD in molecular biology through the experiences of working with others and improving my own skill set. My goal is to make sure the time you're putting in is working for you, not the other way around. I acknowledge all learners from any background and will put my 100% effort into making sure you feel more confident in the material and your skill set moving forward. It is my hope that after working with me, you will have a more comprehensive understanding of how YOU learn and what you can do to make sure you succeed in any STEM-related courses.

I was trained under supplemental instruction and UC's ACE educational philosophy focusing on emotionally intelligent leadership, metacognitive strategies, equity-centered design, and fostering a growth mindset. I've worked closely with students both 1-on-1 and hosted concept reviews with over 100 students present at the university level. A typical lesson is dependent on what the needs of the student are, but is always focused on identifying a learning outcome, making the process of learning as transparent as possible, and focusing on a growth-based mindset over a results-based mindset. My specialty is biology at the introductory level but I have supported students in science at the K-12 level and even upper division courses like biochemistry and genetics at the university level.
