About Camilo

Like almost everyone else, I also took language classes for over 7 years in school.

However, also like almost everyone else, this was not a great help in REALLY learning the language, as I could not even form complete sentences.

This frustrated me, I really wanted to learn to speak in other languages. So I decided to start taking courses both online and face-to-face.

However, the methodology was not very different from what I had seen before: grammar rules, vocabulary without context, "fill-in-the-blank" exercises, etc.

I knew perfectly well that this path would get me nowhere, and my fears were confirmed when I saw a colleague celebrating getting his B1 level certificate (which is half way, if your goal is to speak fluently) and, when asked how long it had taken him, I heard answers like, "1.5 years" or more.

Don't get me wrong, it's a respectable effort it took to get to that level, but the thought of having to add more years to the list of "time I had to spend to be able to communicate in a new language" put me off.

So I decided to take charge of my process and started researching how I could accelerate my learning.

I discovered that there are many people out there who have managed to reach a solid level of communication in foreign languages and, to my surprise, in a very short time.

Now that I knew it was possible, there was nothing stopping me from doing it too.

I studied the methodologies they used and began to notice patterns that coincided in each of them.

Terms like comprehensible input, spaced repetition, active learning, etc. began to sound more and more familiar.

However, although all the methods that the people I studied had the same basis, the way they executed it was different.

Upon further analysis, I realized that it was due to the fact that they all had different passions, different learning styles, different personalities, different time availability and different hobbies.

It was then that I realized that while I could take certain things from others, I would have to create my own plan, one that would be the most effective for me.

I used different tools to get to know myself a little better.

It took me a couple of months to put all the knowledge I had gained into practice.

But once I was done, I could feel that at that moment, finally, my journey was going to begin.

I know, it sounds pretty overwhelming to think that you have to invest months of your life just to create the plan to start with.

That's why I want to put at your disposal the experience I had to gain that led me to reach this level of English in just 6 months.

If you are really committed to learning a new language, even if it is not with me, consider the information I shared with you.

Questions like these used to occupy my mind when I was trying to learn a new language for the first time.

And although it seems like a long time ago, it's only been about 6 months since I started this journey.

When starting out it is overwhelming and our goal seems impossible, even more so when you don't enjoy the process.

I really started to see great progress when I decided to stop taking courses and create my own study plan that fit my time, my passions and my needs. Only then did I see great advances in my learning.

Knowing ourselves, our hobbies, our learning style and time availability is the first thing we must do, to lay the foundations that will lead us to learn a new language in a comfortable, fun way and in the shortest time possible.

If you are still not sure how to start, let me use the experience I have developed to help you. We will build a path that will make your "long learning journey" seem like a walk in the park.

Es un gran maestro. Realmente se toma el tiempo de conocer tus intereses y metas para darte un plan de estudio personalizado que te ayude a avanzar.
En una ocasión, no me encontraba muy conforme con las actividades que debía realizar, así que agendamos una clase en la que me explico el porqué había seleccionado dichas actividades y cómo me iba a beneficiar, sin embargo, también me dió más opciones de actividades que podía escoger en caso de que insistiera en cambiar aquella que me causaba inconformidad, sin afectar mi proceso.
Sin duda, hay gran calidad en sus enseñanzas.

On one occasion, I was not very satisfied with the activities that I had to do, so we scheduled a class in which he explained to me why he had selected these activities and how they were going to benefit me, however, he also gave me more options of activities that I could choose if I insisted on changing the one that caused me dissatisfaction, without affecting my process.
Without a doubt, there is great quality in his teachings.
