About Fiona
I bring a combination of lived experience, academic dedication and real-world initiative to my work. Coming from a working-class, immigrant background, I have had to navigate education and career pathways without clear guidance, which has shaped my resilience, independence and ability to create opportunities where they don’t readily exist. This perspective allows me to connect with students on a genuine level, particularly those who may feel uncertain or underrepresented in their ambitions.
Alongside my studies, I have actively created and led opportunities in education and outreach. I have designed and proposed medical and psychology workshops for MCS Ltd., which have been incorporated into their official programme, and I have led full-day workshops for high school students, as well as sessions for primary school students through university volunteering. I have also worked as a W.E.L.S.A.F.E volunteer, supporting safeguarding and promoting medical and mental health awareness.
My experience across hospitality and retail has strengthened my adaptability and professionalism when working with a wide range of people. I am also bilingual in Cantonese, which has further enhanced my ability to connect with diverse communities.
Academically, I achieved A*AAB at A-level in Art, Psychology, English Literature and Biology, and I have been selected as one of only seven students nationally for the British Neuroscience Association Scholar Programme. I will also be completing a pathology internship at the University of Oxford this summer. These experiences reflect my ability to excel in competitive environments.
Overall, I would describe myself as someone who has built their path proactively and intentionally, and I bring that same mindset into supporting others - helping students recognise their potential and create opportunities for themselves, regardless of their starting point.

Unlike traditional tutoring, my sessions focus not only on academic support but also on mindset, confidence and helping students stand out in competitive environments.
No two students are the same. That's why I take a highly personalised approach. I tailor each session to the individual’s goals, whether that’s improving motivation, building confidence, developing study habits or gaining clarity on academic and career direction. Sessions are structured yet flexible, typically lasting 45–60 minutes. I begin with a brief check-in, then focus on key challenges and work collaboratively on practical, achievable strategies that students can apply beyond the session.
My style is supportive, conversational, and non-judgemental, grounded in my background in psychology and counselling experience. Growing up in an immigrant family without academic shortcuts has shaped my empathy, resilience and understanding of the challenges many students face, which I bring into my sessions to create a space where students feel genuinely understood.
I am a final-year Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience student with experience working with a wide range of individuals, from younger students in outreach teaching to adults in professional settings. As an Academic Representative for two years, I have developed strong communication, advocacy and problem-solving skills, supporting students and liaising with staff to improve their academic experience. I have also received a Silver Leadership Award, been selected for the British Neuroscience Association Scholar Programme, and will be completing a pathology internship at the University of Oxford this summer.
My lessons are aimed at students of all levels who are looking for both emotional support and practical guidance - whether they feel stuck, unmotivated, or want to build confidence, gain direction and stand out academically and professionally.
