About Yoges

I am a certified Yoga Instructor with experience teaching various groups of students from different countries. During COVID, I started to adapt to the new norm and had all the lessons online. Despite not being there in person with my students, I managed to graduate quite a number of students solely through Zoom sessions. I’m grateful for the knowledge I gained and I really enjoy the privilege to help people to live their best lives.

  • What age did you start playing sport? Tell us about this time or moment in your life.

I started teaching at the age of 16 while I was still in secondary school, initially to earn part-time income. However, I quickly discovered a deep passion for teaching, especially working with children. At the same time, I had been practicing yoga from a young age, which later became an important part of both my personal life and teaching journey.
  • What are your favourite sports; those that you practice at a high level, a simple hobby, and a sport that you'd still like to discover?

My main areas of teaching are yoga, abacus, and academic subjects such as Mathematics and English (Cambridge syllabus). Yoga is both my professional practice and personal lifestyle, while math and abacus are subjects I specialise in to build strong foundations in students. As a hobby, I enjoy light running and home workouts, and I would love to explore Pilates further as it complements both yoga and strength training.
  • What gives you the motivation and passion to pursue your sport?

My motivation comes from the visible transformation in my students. In academics, I see students who once struggled begin to understand and enjoy subjects like math. In yoga, I see improvements in flexibility, strength, mental clarity, and overall well-being. These transformations keep me passionate and committed.
  • Do you have a sporting achievement that you're particularly proud of?

I am particularly proud of building my teaching career through diverse and hands-on experiences. I worked in enrichment centres in Malaysia while pursuing my degree, then moved to Singapore to train and qualify as an abacus teacher. I also completed Vedic Math training from India during COVID. Additionally, I worked in science-focused enrichment centres and conducted programs in local and international schools in Singapore. Alongside this, I became a certified RYT-200 yoga teacher and successfully conducted online yoga classes for students from around the world.
  • How have your achievements and challenges made you a better sportsperson?

My achievements and challenges have made me a more responsible, observant, and adaptable teacher. In yoga, I have seen students experience indirect relief from long-term discomforts. For example, improved stress management, relief from chronic shoulder pain, and even hormonal improvements such as a student regaining her menstrual cycle after two years postpartum. While these are not medical treatments, they highlight the impact of consistent and correct practice.

At the same time, teaching yoga comes with great responsibility. I carefully customise each session based on the student’s limitations and medical history, as incorrect guidance can be harmful.

In academics, the challenge lies in identifying each student’s learning gaps and adapting teaching methods accordingly. This has helped me become more patient and strategic, ensuring that every student builds a strong foundation and confidence in their learning.
  • If you had to go for a jog with a famous athlete, who would you choose? And what questions would you ask them?

If I could go for a jog with a famous athlete, I would choose Eliud Kipchoge. I would ask him about his mindset, discipline, and how he maintains consistency at such a high level, as these principles apply strongly to both yoga and academic learning.
  • How do you help people stay motivated?

I help students stay motivated by creating a positive and supportive environment. In academics, I break down complex topics into simple, understandable steps. In yoga, I ensure sessions are enjoyable and suited to the student’s level. I also set achievable goals and celebrate progress, which helps build confidence and consistency.
  • What makes you a Superprof in sports?

What makes me a Superprof is my personalised one-to-one coaching approach in both yoga and academics. By focusing on one student at a time, I am able to:

Fully understand their strengths and weaknesses

Customise lessons based on their learning style or physical condition

    Provide immediate feedback and corrections

Ensure safe and effective yoga practice

Deliver faster and more noticeable improvements

I am also currently developing my own math program to help struggling students understand and enjoy math in a simpler and more engaging way.
