About Katie
I am a third year undergrad with a zeal for not only continuously studying history, but also teaching others.
With experience with children and teens I am enthusiastic to convey a sense of interest and enjoyment to my students in regards to history, whilst they build upon their analytical skills and historical knowledge.
As I am currently in higher education, I have an up to date awareness of what it is like to be a student as well as the understanding and experience of studying during the Covid pandemic, thus being able to relate and adjust my teaching accordingly to a students individual needs.

For both GCSE and A-Level, I adopt a student centred approach to tutoring whereby the student and I tackle difficulties and new material together, with myself guiding them where needed. The student is therefore able to develop independence in regard to the study of history, a vital skill needed in exams and higher education.
Lesson Structure:
1. Allowing time in the beginning for any questions the student might have.
2. Outlining goals for the lesson.
3. Presentation of material we will be going over followed by a discussion with the student. This will allow for the student to ask questions, as well as presenting their own ideas, to which I will discuss with them. This will build up their critical thinking skills as well as discussing the material in depth; far more effective than reading from a textbook.
4. To finish the session, we will have an activity. For example, a quiz, challenge or game to keep the student interested.
The session will remain fun and interactive, relaxed enough to allow for questions and flexibility to suit the student, yet structured to allow for student progression.
