About George
I’m a mathematician who loves explaining ideas. I hold a Master’s in Mathematical Modelling and Scientific Computing from the University of Oxford, where I earned a Distinction and a scholarship for academic merit. Before that, I graduated from Durham University with a First Class degree in Mathematics.
I took A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science and got A* in all four. I know these courses well from both the student’s and the examiner’s side: which topics trip people up, how to lay out your answers, and what examiners are looking for.
I’ve been tutoring since 2023, helping students from GCSE through to university level. The feedback from parents and students has been consistently positive, both on confidence and on results. I’m patient and friendly, and I’m always happy to explain something in a different way until it clicks. Nothing is a silly question in my lessons.
Outside of maths, I enjoy going for runs while listening to an audiobook, and playing badminton whenever I can.

Your first lesson with me will always be free of charge! It gives you a chance to decide whether I am the right tutor for you and me a chance to assess your ability as a student to identify strengths and weaknesses.
My aim is not only to help you do well in your exams but also to help you enjoy the subject. We’ll find exactly where you’re struggling, then work through the content and exam questions together until you feel confident.
I focus on why a method works, where it comes from and when to use it, so you can handle questions you haven’t seen before instead of memorising steps you might not understand.
To help you practise between lessons, I make revision resources tailored to you, which include:
- key facts and formulae
- common mistakes and how to avoid them
- general methods with worked examples
- a large bank of questions to work through on your own
Lessons take place online with a shared digital whiteboard, so you’ll have a copy of all the worked examples afterwards.
