About Talia
Hello! I’m an 18-year-old English Literature enthusiast with a passion for helping GCSE and A-level students shine in their studies. My academic journey includes achieving Grade 9s in English Literature and Language among 8 Grade 9s at GCSE, and earning full marks (60/60) in both GCSE and A-level Edexcel English Literature coursework—a rare feat, as my teacher had never awarded full marks before in her career. I’m thrilled to have secured a place at Oxford University to study English Literature and Language, where I’ll deepen my love for analysing texts. I’ve been shortlisted for national writing competitions, won first prize in my school’s writing contests, and am currently writing a novel while preparing short stories for publication. My Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) explored Edgar Allan Poe’s horror writing techniques, sharpening my skills in structure and language analysis. Having helped GCSE students improve from Grade 7 to 9 through tutoring, I’m eager to support you as a friendly, approachable guide, offering tailored feedback to push your work to the next level.

My Zoom lessons are designed to support GCSE and A-level English Literature and Language students (Edexcel or other boards) by acting as your assistant, not a traditional teacher covering the syllabus. I focus on helping you excel in assignments, whether it’s crafting essays, tackling unseen poetry, comparing texts, or planning and refining coursework (comparative or not). I specialise in texts like An Inspector Calls, Macbeth, Brave New World, The Handmaid’s Tale, A Streetcar Named Desire, Othello, Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie, John Donne’s poetry, Poems of the Decade, and Heart of Darkness by Conrad. I’ll guide you through planning essays, structuring arguments, or analysing texts with tips drawn from my own full-mark coursework. For coursework, I’ll review drafts, suggest improvements, and help you brainstorm ideas without writing it for you. My sessions also offer strategies for unseen poetry or text comparison, using model answers and practice questions to build your confidence. Each lesson is relaxed, personalised to your goals, and focused on enhancing your analytical and writing skills. I provide detailed feedback, share revision resources, and help you develop techniques to boost your grades. With a flexible schedule, I’ll work around your availability, creating a supportive environment to achieve your best. Let’s collaborate to make your English Literature and Language assignments stand out!
