About Sally

I'm Sally, and I'm passionate about helping people grow in confidence in the kitchen. I believe it's the key to so many important things, good self-confidence, independence, taking care of yourself, and saving money! I can't help but think that decent cooking/baking skills are key to a great work-life balance, if you learn to enjoy dinner prep for example, you are less likely to swipe on Deliveroo and order that burger, and if you learn to bake & decorate cakes, you can experience the joy of bringing people together around something that you've created from scratch, and had the opportunity to express yourself creatively.
As mentioned, I own and operate a successful cookie business from my home, and with previous work experience in a bakery & with over 20 years of experience of home-baking and cooking nearly every meal (passionate about budget, healthy meals) I'd love to help others out and share my skills.

About the lesson

Warm, empathetic and patient are words that have been used to describe me in the past when teaching people cooking or baking techniques. I prefer the gentle approach, with a focus on explaining how things work so you can go forth and apply, rather than be stuck with wondering why we're doing a certain thing or how it works. I consider this to be very valuable when teaching, as it allows you to grow in confidence and independence as you understand the concepts behind the techniques, rather than just going through the motions of them. I emphasise brief, 60-minute lessons in plain-English, with the approach to reduce anxiety around cooking/baking and being in the kitchen. The benefits of cooking/baking are endless, namely saving money and knowing what exactly goes in your food, not to mention growing in self-confidence! Specialising in beginner's baking & cooking techniques and those anxious in the kitchen, or simply wanting to learn more, really all ages and levels are welcome.
