About Isha
I have experience tutoring younger students through LearnToBe, with around 40 hours of tutoring in total. Although it was only volunteering, that experience taught me a lot about how different students learn, especially when they feel stuck or overwhelmed with math.
I think younger tutors can sometimes connect better because we’ve recently been in the same position, so it’s easier to explain things in a way that actually makes sense instead of overcomplicating it. My focus is always on keeping things simple, patient, and comfortable so the student doesn’t feel stressed or lost.
I care more about making sure a student actually understands the idea than just getting through questions quickly, and I adjust my approach based on what each student needs.

I usually teach by slowing things down and making sure the student actually understands what each step means, not just how to get the answer. With math, a lot of kids get lost because everything moves too fast or they were never fully taught the basics, so I focus on rebuilding that foundation first.
My way of teaching is very step-by-step. I’ll break a problem into smaller parts, walk through it with them, then let them try similar questions on their own so I can see what they understood and what still needs work. If they get something wrong, I don’t just correct it, I go back and show where the thinking went off so it actually makes sense.
A typical lesson depends on what they need. For example, usually I start by reviewing what they did in school or homework, then we go through a few examples together, and then I let them do practice questions while I guide them if they get stuck. At the end I’ll usually go over the main idea again just to make sure it sticks.
What I think makes me different is that I’ve actually worked with younger students before and I know how easy it is for them to feel confused or shut down when math doesn’t click. I stay patient, I don’t rush them, and I try to explain things in a simple way instead of making it feel complicated or stressful. I also remember what it’s like to be in that position, so I don’t judge mistakes, I use them to teach.
These lessons are mainly for elementary and early middle school students (around 3rd to 6th grade), especially students who need help with basic math, homework support, or building confidence with problem solving.
