About Laura
I graduated from the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) in Chemistry (GPA 4.0/4.0). Afterwards, I worked one year in the USA as a research scientist in medicinal chemistry.
I specialize in tutoring general and organic chemistry. I have several years of experience as a private tutor for high school and university students.

I enjoy helping students learn and understand chemistry by focusing on fundamental concepts and critical thinking. My goal is to help students learn to solve problems by themselves, so tutorials are student-centered and interactive. I engage students by asking questions and helping them think through the examples and problems.
I offer both as-needed and regular sessions in a variety of formats. In some formats, the student provides the material, and in others, I provide the material and practice problems.
Online sessions are done through audio/video calling and an interactive whiteboard. Notes are sent to the student after each session along with practice problems.

The free lesson is a consultation / meet-and-greet via Zoom. We can discuss any questions that you might have, as well as how sessions are typically set up and conducted. We can also explore the technology used during the tutoring sessions.
