About Katherine
I am a US Air Force military wife and mother of 2 college students who are currently studying restaurant management and criminal justice.
I served many years as their Girl Scout leader, and they both earned the Girl Scout Gold Award.
I am an educator of 25 years and a private tutor of 7 years. I am certified in English/ELA, social studies, special education and school leadership.
In my spare time I like to travel, watch old movies and craft (sewing, jewelry, and designing t-shirts are a few of my modes of creativity).
Aside from all of that, I tutor online several hours a week. Most parents say that online tutoring won't work for their child until they try it with me. I have many tricks up my sleeve and have a high success rate with students online.

I have a background in teaching students study skills in all subject areas. I also have experience in special education and have extensive success with neurodivergent students and ADHD students in learning organizational and study skills and raising their grades.
Typically we start by talking about what struggles the student is having in school, looking at some past homework assignments, and possibly taking an assessment so I can see where they are struggling. Our time together almost always starts by completing any late work or homework they have, and then discussing techniques to use in the future as well as enrichment activities on standards I have seen the student needs more instruction on.
