About Ellie
Hi, I'm Ellie, and I study Global Sustainable Development at the University of Warwick. I'm really passionate about education and I believe having a good education is one of the best tools you can have in life. My favourite subject at school was Geography, however, I also loved biology and psychology.
I believe visual learning works a lot better than students simply reading a paragraph and memorising it, especially those with learning difficulties such as dyslexia (which I have myself). And that the best way to consolidate learning is by consistent, small, quick-fire questions after each section. My main focus is helping my students to reach their potential as well as creating a passion for the subjects they're learning.

I will start by setting clear goals and expectations. In the first 5 minutes, I review the session's objectives and address any immediate questions or concerns.
Next, I spend 10 minutes reviewing previous material to reinforce learning and ensure retention. This includes a brief quiz or a discussion of key concepts from the last session. I encourage the student to ask questions and provide feedback to gauge their understanding.
For the next 20 minutes, I introduce new material. I present content in a structured manner using visual aids, slides, or interactive tools to keep the student engaged. I break down complex concepts into manageable parts and use real-world examples to illustrate points, encouraging active participation through questions and discussions.
Then, I allocate 15 minutes to practice and application. I provide exercises or problems for the student to solve, ensuring they apply the new concepts they've learned. I offer guidance and support as needed but also allow the student to work independently to build confidence.
In the final 5 minutes, I conduct a recap and Q&A session. I summarize the key points covered, address any remaining questions, and provide homework or additional resources for further practice. I discuss the goals for the next session and ensure the student knows what to expect moving forward.
