About Mia
I’m Mia, I’m a university student at the University of Exeter, studying international relations. I want to teach because I deeply enjoy English literature, and enjoyed teaching my younger sibling as well. Whilst I’m not studying it at university, I find it to be an incredibly mentally engaging and stimulating subject that pushes one creatively. I am still an avid reader, but I love analysis and discussion, and would love to evoke that same passion in others.

Having sat the 11+ myself, as well as very recently having done my A Levels and GCSEs- I am very familiar with the content, as well as the ways in which examiners assess students and look for marks. I was predicted an A, not an A* at A Level, but was able to lift my grade up through focusing on understanding, rather than memorising the text. I also have two younger siblings, who I tutor and assist frequently in their homework. The lesson can fully be shaped by the student or parent, and we can highlight together what the main focuses are- and in working together we can aim towards independence in their abilities, rather than a dependence on a tutor.

Mia wasn’t just my tutor, she really felt like my big sister in the end, I think she just really understood what I needed help with, without even having to ask and I can’t thank her enough for that.
Mia is such a good tutor! This year I was struggling a bit with my gcse English literature and she was super kind and support and helped me find good ways to revise poems and my literature text. She really helped me understand how to use and describe different techniques as well as structure a clear gcse essay.
