About Carmen
NYGH and HCI alumni, NTU graduate (Business).
Native Chinese speaker. A* for PSLE and A2 for O level Chinese.
I am deeply passionate about enabling young Singaporeans to build a robust foundation in the Chinese language and appreciating the Chinese culture. I specialise in listening and speaking training and using stories to get learners to be interested and understand the basics.

Storytelling and speaking practice, not silent drilling. A lot of students can read and write Chinese far better than they can speak it. I improve that ability through storytelling and real conversation, which builds creativity and critical thinking alongside the language itself. Confidence in speaking tends to be the thing that changes first, and it carries into oral exams.
Back to basics, done properly. Where the foundations are shaky, we go back and rebuild them step by step. Rushing ahead over gaps is how students end up stuck at the same grade for years. Mastering core skills first makes everything after it easier.
A classroom worth showing up to. Curiosity and collaboration matter more than pressure. Lessons stay supportive and lively, because students who enjoy the subject keep going with it long after the exam is over. Format In person or online, whichever suits you.
Lessons are 60 minutes, typically once a week.
