Dear children: My full name is Carmen Joinnie, but most of my friends just call me C J. It would be wonderful if we could become friends, but I would adore it even more if we could start learning as a teacher and her good student. My classes will be enjoyable and fleeting! Who knows? I may not have many years of teaching experience, but I believe that passion and the ability to have fun while learning are extremely important to children.
Having been a child myself, I believe that children need to visualise in order to remember. No amount of memorization or tedious work will allow your child to love learning.
I'd like to teach children aged 7 to 10, to prepare them for exams in the near future. Because children's attention spans are shorter than adults', the length of a lesson typically ranges from thirty minutes / one hour / one and a half hours, depending on their levels.
Night classes from 8PM or weekend classes only.
*The first class would be free of charge in order to get to know your children, their current grade level, and their ability to cope and learn.
For children with little to no fundamental in the language:
1) We will start with the basics (grammar, spelling, reading, listening)
2) Only after we have established a solid groundwork will we move on to simple creative/essay writing.
3) More back-to-back classes are advised because "practise makes perfect!"
For children who have a sturdy understanding of the language:
1) As we progress to the big kids section, we will focus more on essay writing for school exams (depending on your syllabus).
2) We will practise longer and more realistic speeches so that your child can speak fluently on a daily basis.
3) Each week, challenging words will be introduced into the lesson.
4) Unless stated otherwise, classes can be on alternate days.
There is no ideal time for your children to begin learning, as long as they are eager to learn.
