About Nia

I am an actor, presenter, director and acting teacher from London. I have a BA Hons in Acting from the Guildford School of Acting and have experience as an actor in both theatre and film. I balance my personal career with teaching; sharing my experience and skills with others, fostering love for this incredible craft. I am a supportive, vibrant and enthusiastic teacher, with patience, empathy and understanding at the centre of my practice. I always ensure each lesson is tailored to the wants and needs of the student, making each lesson dynamic, exciting and allowing for progression and growth in an encouraging environment. Assisting students to achieve their artistic goals is the most fulfilling part of my work. I always create a safe and supportive environment to help the student to grow and explore creatively, allowing the performer to take risks and push themselves. Acting is about bravery and honesty, the confidence to bear all with the knowing that you could get it wrong. Acting is fun, and you should enjoy yourself when you create; however you should also be confident enough to take risks. Feel the fear and still do it anyway!

About the lesson

The heart of my teaching practice is instilling the love and joy for acting, and inspiring students to develop and grow as performers. I focus on fostering confidence and creativity through acting and storytelling. My pedagogy focuses on empowering the individual to find their true artistic voice. I work on developing the student's confidence in character building, script analysis and scene study, voice work and movement and physicality. I love teaching acting and performance, as it's due to my incredible acting coach I had when I was young, that I pursued a career in this amazing industry. She inspired me, and now I hope to inspire others. When it comes to LAMDA examinations, I have a thorough knowledge of LAMDA grades, the syllabus and experience in the examination process. I teach LAMDA peripatetically at schools, therefore I have teaching experience with students at varying different levels from Entry Level to Grade 8. What I Can Offer: *Acting classes at all levels *LAMDA examinations: Grades 1-8 (Bronze-Gold.) Solo Acting, Verse and Pros, Group Acting, Devising Drama, Miming and Public Speaking. *Audition technique, including preparation for drama school applications. *Public speaking, elocution and confidence in communication. I have a first class degree in BA Acting and have also completed all LAMDA Solo Acting Performance Grades 1-8 (including Bronze-Gold) to a high distinction level. I have previously been invited on judging panels for monologue, voice and speech and public speaking competitions at Arts Fairs and schools. All ages and levels are welcome! I am fully trained to teach any age or experience level. I have directed many school productions for the past 5 years at several primary schools in London. I have also worked as an associate director at Youth Theatres, nurturing and fostering acting talent in many children. I coach young adults in audition technique for drama school entrance and have fortunately seen many successfully go onto drama conservatoires such as LAMDA, Mountview, Rose Bruford, GSA, Guildhall and Fourth Monkey. Having assisted directed on several professional productions, I've solidified my training with mature students/actors. I have an Enhanced DBS certificate and all relevant certification. The duration of my lessons normally range from 45-60 mins, however this can vary depending on what I'm teaching and at what level. I believe a lesson should be minimum 45 mins, so as to allow time to fully warm up and really delve into character and scene study. I work out of my studio at home in South West London but also offer Zoom lessons.
