About Daniel
I am an individual that has struggled with learning difficulties but learned to compensate for these and am excited to apply what I have learned to help others.
My background in natural sciences and more specifically neuroscience, has encouraged me to be curious about various topics in biology, chemistry, and physics. I have acquired substantial experience in both scientific communication and research during and after my undergraduate course. I am excited to see how my scientific knowledge and semantic skills can be generalized to underlying principles of teaching and communicating across disciplines.
During my time at Trinity College Dublin, I became deeply involved in science communication and public outreach. To this end, a small team and I formed a general science society to help provide a public platform for the discussion of science. I wrote prolifically for the college newspaper on a variety of topics, eventually becoming a Science and Technology editor. I founded another society called Trinity Talks Science, the central aim of which was to highlight research taking place in the college to the wider public. We did this through monthly podcast episodes and panel discussions with experts in the field. I continue to be involved in public engagement and currently run the Pint of Science Podcast Ireland.
For my science communication work, I was nominated as Sci-Tech Writer of the Year at several student media awards in the UK and Ireland, and colleagues whose work I edited won many of these awards. The podcast I produced was nominated as Student Media Outlet of the Year. In addition, the university offered me funding for further podcasts and to produce a magazine on mindfulness and mental health. These opportunities, alongside my academic work, allowed me to develop an accessible writing style, relaxed public speaking skills, and an approach to science communication with consilience at its heart. Moreover, my research career thus far has been centered on understanding neurobiological tools, and how they allow us to examine and manipulate brain functions, both in health and pathology.

I have a degree in Neuroscience from Trinity College Dublin. I have worked tutoring students in Ireland in biology and volunteered to assist dyslexic students in learning from a young age.
I have happy to tailor lessons to the student's goals, syllabus, and learning styles. I will work to instill a passion and comprehension for the subject and will offer summarized revision sheets.
Happy to tutor in UCAT or GAMSAT.
