About Iain

I really want my tutees to have be collaborative experience in their learning. A kind of teaching that can offer you guidance, knowledge and steering you along your journey and preparing you for the future. Thus, the first lesson will revolve around the student, to understand your ambitions, and what your expectations are. Here we can plan what it is you would like to achieve. If you have course materials, or specific topics you would like covering, we can plan the most appropriate requirements together. I can help towards understanding of those topics you need help with, and further preparation and guidance for revision and exams. This is a process that we touch back on and review form time to time as necessary so as to make sure you are getting maximum value from your lessons.

One of the most valued aspects of my PhD personally has been the opportunity to supervise students through their academic growth. Supervision entails often working closely together and tutoring them on topics that they perhaps find difficult. As well as helping them understand difficult concepts, I help them through all kinds of work from essay writing to presentations. I have helped with many age ranges, from school work experience students through to public outreach of any ages. (I have even conducted science workshops for primary schools!). Being able to engage and pass on knowledge has been a great experience, and I aim to bring that level of enthusiasm to my tuition.

About the lesson

I believe that every person has unique way of learning, so I try to approach teaching in a way that is student centred around tutees specific needs in a friendly and patient way. To make learning more enriching, I aim to make learning much easier by breaking concepts down to their conceptual level in a way that the student understands. I aim to help build a foundational understanding, that makes light work retaining knowledge and further understanding of the subject at hand. This will give students the confidence and ability to succeed in their chosen field.

During my academic career I have supervised several students. These have ranged from undergraduate to postgraduate students, who have gone on to achieve high success at those levels. This combined with my extensive biology/neuroscience knowledge, I can help you to achieve the grades you desire.

Each online lesson will be an hour long. I can teach all sciences to GCSE level and Biology to A Level. My availability to teach is Monday - Thursday evenings currently
