About Vera

I’m a native Spanish speaker, born in Madrid and now based in London, where I teach Spanish at a leading school and tutor privately. I also speak fluent French, giving me a deep, multilingual understanding of how languages are successfully learnt and taught.

I have over ten years of tutoring experience, with students from primary age to university, plus adult learners (some have studied with me for over four years), including at A level and university level. Whether you’re starting from zero or polishing your fluency, I’ll meet you where you are.

In 2020 I graduated with First Class Honours in Classics and French from UCL, and I received the Otto Skutsch Prize and was named on the 2020 Dean's List. This included a year studying at Université Paris-Sorbonne through the Erasmus+ programme. In 2025 I graduated from an MA in Creative Music Production from ICMP (completed with Distinction and the Outstanding Student Award).

Currently, I balance my private tutoring with my roles as a Languages teacher at a GDST school in London and a lecturer for MA students at ICMP. I also am currently completing a second Master’s in Secondary Education Teacher Training (specialising in Language Education).

About the lesson

My lessons are structured but relaxed. Each one has a clear aim, and we mix conversation, targeted grammar drills, summarising and short oral presentations, so you build accuracy and confidence together. For exam students I work from the Edexcel iGCSE specification (4SP1) and past papers, and for A level and university I focus on essay writing and analysis. I often use flipped learning (a short pre-reading or task before the lesson) so our time together goes on feedback and speaking.

I am proud that all of my students have seen not only a numerical
improvement in their results but also a greater passion for the
subject and more confidence as learners.

My lessons are £55 an hour online and £70 an hour in person. That covers more than the hour we spend together. Before the lessons, I put time into planning material around you, your goals and your course, so every lesson feels made for you. I also keep up with my subjects and any exam board changes, and I’m happy to look over your work before we meet, so we can use our time on the things that will help most. The in-person rate includes my travel and cost to you. Why not book a free intro call and say hello?
