About Dmitry

My name is Dmitry Ershov. I am a dedicated Spanish and English teacher with 9 years of experience in private tutoring.
Born in the Soviet Union, I have been living in Spain for 34 years. This extensive experience allows me to teach Spanish at a true native level — both in everyday conversation and in professional and cultural contexts.
I studied at the Linguistic Institute of Irkutsk (4 years of training as a teacher of English). I also completed the first year of Philosophy and successfully passed exams at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain.
Before dedicating myself fully to teaching, I worked as a real estate agent, flight attendant, translator-interpreter, and insurance agent. This varied professional background helps me deeply understand the real needs and goals of adult learners.
In addition to Spanish and English, I also speak some German, French, Norwegian, and Dutch.
My teaching approach is practical, relaxed, and focused on real communication. My main goal is to help my students speak Spanish and English with confidence and fluency in everyday and professional situations.

About the lesson

My methodology is primarily based on Stephen Krashen's natural acquisition approach, which I combine with Paul Pimsleur's principles of spaced repetition. I firmly believe that languages are best learned when students are exposed to engaging and comprehensible content. Therefore, I actively integrate: authentic videos and films (with progressive subtitles), TV series and cartoons, songs, and real-life material from everyday life in Spain. This combination is the result of over nine years of experience and thousands of hours of private lessons, during which I have refined and adjusted my techniques based on my students' progress. From day one, I prioritize speaking and listening comprehension in my classes, always working in a relaxed and motivating environment. I avoid excessive theoretical grammar and focus on what you truly need to speak confidently in real-life situations.
