About Rene Francisco

My parents decided to move to the U.S. in 1988, so I have been living here for the past 36 years.

I've been through a lot and experienced a lot, being a native speaker myself that was born and raised in Mexico. I've had the challenge to adapt and learn the language of the new place which would eventually turn into home.

What made my experience more challenging and I believe stands out the most is that back then as I was growing up, there was little to no ESL classes available for people who had just arrived for Mexico, especially Kids.

Spanish speaking programing on Tv or Radio only consisted of 1 or 2 channels. So with that in mind we were forced to learn a new language without any help at all from anyone other than just our cousins who just taught us the basics to get through the school day. They taught us things like how to ask permission to use the bathroom, get a drink of water, the pledge of allegiance and ask for them in cased we needed some other type of help.

So the difference between myself and someone else nowadays is that I know exactly what is like to learn a new language from scratch and I had to learn it the hard way because it was a need to fit in and survive. I didn't have the luxury of being enrolled in ESL classes or have Google Translate within my finger tips or other sources that are out now.

About the lesson

Lessons are based on REAL WORLD conversations, and phrases that exist in our daily lives.

Assignments, exercises, and examples will consist of using all sorts of media since its what we interact with everyday.

Things such Entertainment and Workplace are the most effective way to learn.
