About Gabriel

I am a Chinese graduate with a degree in Visual Arts from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, specializing in illustration, cultural and creative design, and art history. Currently, I am enrolled in the extracurricular course of Historical Harps with Mara Galassi at the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado in Europe.

Since the age of 11, I have had a deep interest in Western humanities, with a special focus on art (art history), folklore, linguistics, and music of the late Middle Ages and early modern period. In 2017, during my sophomore year of high school, I noticed an inaccuracy regarding medieval architecture in a history book and wrote a letter to the History Editorial Board of People's Education Press (PEP), who responded to me confirming the validity of my observation. I will provide supporting evidence and attestations if necessary.

From 2018 to 2021, I studied English and Linguistics at a Chinese university, attended a summer program in Classical Studies at the Pontifical Salesian University, and took courses in Cultural Heritage at the University of Bologna. However, along the way, I realized that my interests were shifting toward disciplines that required more creativity. As a result, I passed the entrance exam and entered the Brera Academy, despite having no prior artistic training.

On September 9, 2023, I gave a lecture on Medieval Art History for the platform "Xiyu Culture" (熙屿文化) in China. This course aimed to introduce medieval art history from an interdisciplinary perspective to students and scholars from various fields, covering topics such as illuminated manuscripts, folklore studies, symbolism, and more. My organization and planning skills were appreciated by other researchers.

Since 2019, despite not having an academic musical background, I have tried to compose music through memory and self-learning, adopting musical styles that are distinct from mainstream contemporary trends. By approaching Western culture and the world from an Eastern perspective, my music serves as a lens through which I try to build bridges between realities often separated by barriers and divisions. Through my skills, independent thinking, exploration and study, I released my debut album, Young Easterner in Old West, at the end of October 2024.

About the lesson

As a native Mandarin speaker, born and raised in the region where Standard Mandarin originated, I bring both rigorous linguistic authenticity and solid academic expertise to my teaching. With a score of 91/100 on the Putonghua Proficiency Test and extensive experience in intercultural education, I ensure my students receive professional and precise Chinese language teaching.

In addition to the linguistic aspect, I offer a deep immersion in traditional Chinese and Far Eastern culture, bridging the gap between the ancient and the modern. As a medieval art history teacher at Xiyu Academy (熙屿学坊) and a multilingual scholar, with Academic IELTS 8.0 in English, B2 in Italian, B1 in French, and intermediate knowledge of Latin, I understand the difficulties and perspectives of students with diverse linguistic backgrounds. My expertise in phonology, Middle English, and Old French further strengthens my ability to guide students in mastering the nuances of Mandarin pronunciation and structure.

Through an engaging and immersive teaching style, I integrate contemporary topics, idioms and popular expressions, cultural references and linguistic jokes, making learning Mandarin not only effective but also inspiring and practical.
