About Chloe
I'm a Psychology and Cognitive Science undergraduate at the University of Nottingham, currently studying on exchange at the UK campus. As a native Mandarin speaker fluent in English and Malay, I bring both a strong command of the language and a genuine understanding of what makes it click for learners from different backgrounds.
Over the past two years, I've tutored primary and secondary school students in Mandarin Chinese, helping them build not just vocabulary and grammar, but the confidence to actually use the language. My background in psychology shapes how I approach every lesson — I pay close attention to each student's comfort level and learning style, adapting my teaching to keep them engaged rather than following a rigid script.

With 2 years of experience tutoring Mandarin Chinese, I work with students ranging from complete beginners to heritage speakers who understand Chinese but feel shy speaking it. As a Psychology undergraduate, I bring an understanding of how to build children's confidence and put them at ease, which shapes my conversation-first approach — lessons are built around everyday topics and storytelling rather than rote memorisation.
