About Xu
Hi, I’m Jing, a native Mandarin speaker from China, currently living in New Zealand.
I studied Early Childhood Education at university and hold a Level 2-A Mandarin Proficiency Certificate. My education background has given me a good understanding of how people learn, how to explain things clearly, and how to create a supportive learning environment.
During university, I also gained practical teaching experience. I taught dance classes independently and worked as a teaching assistant in English holiday programs, where I supported students during lessons and activities.
Although I am new to teaching Mandarin professionally, I have experience working with learners and I understand how important patience, encouragement and clear explanations are. As someone who is also continuing to improve my own English while living abroad, I understand the challenges of learning and using a second language in real life.
I hope to help students feel comfortable speaking Mandarin and enjoy the learning process step by step.

My lessons are friendly, practical and tailored to each student’s needs. As a native Mandarin speaker with a background in Early Childhood Education, I like to make learning Chinese clear, interactive and enjoyable.
For beginners, I can help you build a strong foundation in pronunciation, tones, everyday vocabulary and useful sentence patterns. I prefer to use real-life situations and conversation rather than asking students to simply memorize words and grammar.
A typical lesson may include pronunciation practice, new vocabulary, simple dialogues, listening and speaking exercises, and a short review at the end. I can also adjust the lesson depending on your goals, whether you want to learn Chinese for travel, daily conversation, personal interest or to communicate more confidently with Chinese speakers.
I hold a Level 2-A Mandarin Proficiency Certificate and studied Early Childhood Education at university. During university, I also gained teaching experience through teaching dance classes and working as a teaching assistant in English holiday programs.
My lessons are especially suitable for complete beginners and beginner-level learners. I’m patient, encouraging and happy to explain things step by step.
