About Harry
Hello, I’m Harry, a native Mandarin speaker based in Melbourne. I hold a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Sydney and currently work as a project engineer in an international professional environment.
I speak fluent English and Japanese and hold JLPT N1 certification. Having learned languages to an advanced level myself, I understand the difficulties students face with pronunciation, unfamiliar grammar and building the confidence to speak naturally.
My engineering background has trained me to explain complex ideas clearly, logically and patiently. Every lesson is prepared around the student’s current level, learning goals and preferred pace, with practical exercises and constructive feedback.
I particularly welcome adult beginners, intermediate learners, university students and professionals. Whether you are learning Chinese for everyday conversation, travel, relationships or work, I will provide a structured, supportive and professional learning environment.

My lessons focus on practical Chinese that students can understand and use, rather than simply memorizing vocabulary and grammar rules.
My teaching approach:
• Lessons tailored to your goals, interests and current ability
• Clear explanations of pronunciation, tones and grammar
• Guided practice followed by realistic conversation
• Comparisons with English—or Japanese where helpful
• Practical corrections and feedback without constantly interrupting conversation

Lessons are normally 60 minutes. Shorter 45-minute sessions can suit beginners, while 90-minute sessions are available for more intensive practice.
I am a native Mandarin speaker, a Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Sydney, and a fluent English and Japanese speaker with JLPT N1 certification. My engineering and project-management background helps me explain concepts logically and makes me particularly suited to professional and technical learners.
