About Haley

Hi! I’m a native Mandarin speaker from Shanghai, China, currently completing my Master of Teaching (Secondary) at RMIT University in Melbourne.

I have gained teaching experience in several Australian secondary schools, working with students from Year 7 to Year 12, including VCE Chinese classes. These experiences have helped me develop a strong understanding of how to support students with different language abilities and learning needs.

I’m passionate about teaching because I believe learning a language is more than just memorizing vocabulary and grammar. It’s also about discovering new cultures, building confidence and connecting with people.

As a teacher, I’m patient, friendly and encouraging. I love seeing my students make progress, no matter how small, and I always aim to make learning Chinese a positive and enjoyable experience.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be interactive, engaging and tailored to each student’s learning goals and language level.

With experience teaching Chinese in Australian secondary schools, I understand that every student learns differently. I use a variety of teaching methods, including conversations, storytelling, games and real-life situations, to make learning Chinese enjoyable and practical.

Whether you’re a complete beginner, a school student looking for extra support, or an adult wanting to improve your Mandarin, I can help you build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing.

I also offer support for students studying Chinese at school, including VCE Chinese preparation.

My goal is to create a friendly and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and progressing at their own pace.
