About Jaismeen

Hi, I’m Jaismeen. I grew up and studied in Spain before moving to the UK for university, where I am currently studying for my Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering.

Languages have always been an important part of my life. I speak Spanish, Catalan, English, Punjabi and Hindi, and I also studied French at school. Because of this, I understand how different languages work and how challenging it can feel to express yourself in a language you are still learning. This helps me be patient, encouraging and clear when supporting students with Spanish.

I would describe myself as organised, calm and creative. I enjoy explaining ideas in a way that feels simple and approachable, and I like helping students feel more confident rather than overwhelmed. I know from my own experience as a student that the right support can make a big difference, especially when a subject feels difficult or intimidating.

I have experience tutoring children during summer breaks, as well as babysitting and volunteering in activities involving children and young people. These experiences helped me become responsible, adaptable and comfortable supporting different ages and personalities.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy science, space, reading, writing, drawing, video games, hiking, learning new skills and creating content. I am naturally curious, and I like bringing that curiosity and creativity into my lessons.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be:

I know that learning a language can feel intimidating, especially when it comes to speaking, so I aim to create a calm environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building confidence step by step.

I usually begin by understanding the student’s current level, goals and areas of difficulty. From there, I structure lessons around a mix of explanation, guided practice and active use of Spanish. Depending on the student, this may include vocabulary building, grammar explanations, reading comprehension, listening practice, pronunciation, conversation practice, writing support, translation and exam-style questions.

My teaching style is organised but flexible. If one explanation does not work, I try another approach using examples, visuals, repetition, real-life situations or comparisons with English. I like to break topics down into manageable steps and check understanding regularly, rather than moving too quickly. For speaking practice, I encourage students to use Spanish naturally and gradually, so they can improve fluency without feeling judged.

A typical lesson is 1 hour, although I can adapt this depending on the student’s age, concentration level and learning goals.

I am a native-level Spanish speaker and was educated in Spain until moving abroad for university. I completed Bachillerato, the Spanish equivalent of A-levels, and I am currently studying for my Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering in the UK. I also speak several languages, including Spanish, Catalan, English, Punjabi and Hindi, so I understand how language learning works from both a student and tutor perspective.

I have previous experience tutoring children during summer breaks, as well as babysitting and volunteering in local activities involving children and young people. My lessons are suitable for beginners, school students, GCSE students, A-level students and anyone who wants to improve their Spanish vocabulary, speaking, listening, reading, writing or overall confidence in Spanish.
