About Martine

I'm an Italian-Swiss-Russian-New Yorker (yes, for real) who just recently moved to Canada. I was born and raised in Italy and moved to NYC at the age of 19. While Italian is my native tongue, I am also fluent in English and Russian and familiar with French and Spanish. I majored in Film & Television at NYU Tisch School of the Arts (Class of 2020) and minored in Russian & Slavic Studies. I also briefly attended Lomonosov Moscow State University where I perfected my knowledge and use of the Russian language while also learning about Russian phonetics, art and culture. Additionally, I studied International Politics with renowned political scientist Bruce Bueno De Mesquita. I am deeply proud of my multicultural identity and I am always eager to learn more about different cultures.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is a hybrid one: I combine grammar and vocabulary foundation (the ABC - literally and figuratively - of every language) with regular practice (conversation, listening, speaking, etc.), which helps you not only to become familiar and accustomed to the language but it also helps your mind to "subliminally absorb" the structure and use of the language, which, I can promise you, is the best way to become fluent in any language. Auditory and visual material (films, TV shows, comedy sketches, memes, etc.) will help familiarize the student not only with the language itself but also with the culture associated with it. Like Charlemagne said: "To speak a second language is to have a second soul".
