Hello! As a foreign language student myself, I understand the difficulty faced and the determination needed to learn a new language, especially from beginner's level. But together we will gain fluency, and I will show you my tips and tricks to mastering a whole new language by immersing you in listening, reading, writing and speaking English! For those looking for more advanced literacy skills in analysing texts, comprehension questions, essay practice etc. I obtained a Grade 9 at GCSE and A at A-Level in English Literature, so I have full understanding of the necessary criteria to reach your full potential!
I have worked with young children (7-11 years old) in particular, but I encourage all ages to sign up for my lessons. I will curate fun exercises, go at whatever speed feels suitable for you whilst pushing you to achieve your goals! Additionally, building a comfortable and supportive relationship with my tutees is a key priority of mine for a healthy learning environment.
Depending on your needs and interests, I will design my lessons in a natural and effective manner, providing all the relevant information in a clear presentation as well as putting these skills to practice in homework and quizzes.
Important things to remember:
1. Ask questions – it is completely normal to feel overwhelmed or confused whilst learning a language, I can repeat a sentence, topic etc as many times as necessary. Even out of curiosity, asking questions will expand your understanding.
2. Mistakes are welcomed! – homework or quizzes might seem challenging but are vital in the cognitive process so we can improve even faster.
3. A little and often goes a long way – sometimes hours of independent study on top of daily life can be difficult to maintain. So I recommend breaking it down to a daily 5-15 mins for vocab or grammar practice for long-term memorisation.
4. There isn’t ONE way to learn! The hardest part of language learning is memorisation, not only new vocabulary but the many rules and exceptions. So we will explore YOUR most effective learning style (e.g. auditory, visual, games etc.)
If you already have a small understanding of English, we will work to develop your confidence and refine your writing skills, listening comprehension and pronunciation. Even for those at advanced level, we can prepare for professional conversations, exams, essay-writing etc.
And last but not least, your wish is my command... I have personal experience of being a tutee and understanding what works and what doesn’t is essential. At the end of the day, you have made the first brave step in deciding to pursue English, I am here to help you!
