About Kate
I am a native Chinese speaker with a background in Fine Art and cross-cultural communication. I have studied and worked in both China and the UK, which has given me a deep understanding of how language connects with culture and different ways of thinking.
I am patient, organised, and committed to creating a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and improving step by step. My lessons are carefully prepared and adapted to each student’s goals, whether you are learning Chinese for travel, personal interest, academic purposes, or professional communication.
With my experience in creative practice and communication, I bring a thoughtful and engaging approach to language learning, helping students develop not only their speaking skills but also a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture.

My teaching approach focuses on practical communication, cultural understanding, and personalised learning. I believe language is not only a tool for speaking, but also a way to understand how people think, express ideas, and experience the world.

As an artist with a Fine Art background, I also bring creativity and visual thinking into my lessons. For students who are interested, we can explore Chinese culture, stories, literature, and visual arts as part of language learning, making the process more engaging and memorable.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners, including adults, university students, and anyone interested in Chinese language and culture.
