About Jieling (Jaelyn)
I am currently a MA student in Social Anthropology at SOAS, London. I have a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and a Master's degree in International Relations. My previous education is bilingual in Chinese and English so that I have been teaching English-speaking schoolmates Chinese since I was in University. I also worked at Confucius College of Brock University, Ontario, Canada in 2012-2013. As a native Chinese with a social science background, I'm quite familiar with Chinese culture and folk tradition, which can be really fun during the lesson.

My Chinese teaching method is through the culture as a starting point. I will weave the practical use of the language into the real Chinese environment. I will divide the course into three parts: conversation, grammar, and writing, according to the learners' needs. I will set up different language use scenarios, blend in the most local Chinese culture and folk customs, let the language learning become a cultural tour. I will assess the learners' Chinese proficiency in the first lesson, and then work out a specific learning plan according to the individual situation.
