About Geo

I am South Korean by ethnicity but have been born and raised in the UK. I speak both languages at native proficiency so you are in safe hands!

Tutoring is something I really enjoy and have previous experience in. I've taught students of all ages and all levels online and offline so rest assured :)

About the lesson

As with any of the subjects I tutor, I like to be flexible and adapt to find a session structure that works best for you, that's the whole benefit of tutoring! (I like to call them sessions and not lessons because it's more about us talking and achieving *our* learning goals than me talking at you, how boring!)

With Korean, I've found that an hour session is plenty of time, although with really avid learners we've gone for an hour and a half. Although our approach will be tailored specifically for you and your learning methods, I like to suggest a generic structure for our sessions that goes along the lines of:

- Looking back on the last session and any questions that might have arisen since
- Looking at what outcomes we want to achieve in this session (we will usually decide the next session's outcome at the end of the current one)
- Going through key concepts and practicing putting those thoughts and ideas into practice (Practicing writing, speaking and listening every session)
- Discussing areas of difficulty and going through difficult areas (whatever they may be!)
- Evaluating what we've covered in the session and whether we are happy that we've reached the outcomes set out at the beginning of the session
- Deciding how to consolidate what we've covered in the session (like homework but not as drab)
- Looking ahead to the next session and deciding what outcomes we want to achieve next time

I have previous experience of tutoring, both online and offline, and not just Korean! I really do like doing this, being able to be of help is incredibly meaningful to me and I want to make tutoring as enjoyable as it can be :)

I had the pleasure of learning Korean from Geo and really can’t recommend her enough! She is patient and engaging and I felt every lesson to be genuinely engaging and enjoyable.

She has a well-structured teaching style but adapts it as needed to fit your learning pace and goals. Her fluency means you develop a really natural and conversational ability but she’s also able to drill down on the more technical aspects if you’re preparing for something more official like the TOPIK exam. There were some really challenging concepts that she explained clearly, and I always felt encouraged to practice speaking even if I was making a lot of mistakes.

She’s so kind and supportive and created an environment where I felt really motivated to challenge myself. I really recommend her if you’re looking for a tutor!
