About Maya
Hi! I’m a high school junior, an active theater actor of five years, and the proud recipient of the National School Choral Award—the highest honor given to a high school choral student. Over the last half-decade, I have lived and breathed the performing arts, from leading choir sections to bringing characters to life on stage.
As a self-taught vocalist, I cracked the code on how to build a strong, healthy singing voice, match pitch perfectly, and command a stage through pure practice, passion, and performance. Because I learned completely by ear rather than through rigid, classical sight-reading lessons, I understand the mechanics of singing naturally. I know exactly how to explain things in simple, fun, and practical terms that make sense to young performers.
I know how intimidating it can be to step under the stage lights or walk into an audition room. I’ve spent years figuring out what actually works to conquer stage fright and deliver a great performance. If you are looking for an approachable, high-energy mentor who speaks your child's language and understands the modern youth theater and school choir scene, I’m here to help them shine!

Because I am a self-taught vocalist and an active theater performer, I focus heavily on contemporary performance and ear-training rather than classical sight-reading. I teach using practical, real-world techniques that focus on how a song actually sounds and feels. Our hour together is split into three core parts:
1. Healthy Vocal Warmups (15 Mins): We start every lesson protecting the voice. I teach fun call-and-response exercises for breath support, expanding vocal range, pitch accuracy, and relaxing the jaw and throat.
2. Song Work & Ear Training (30 Mins): The student gets to pick songs they actually love—whether it's Musical Theater, Pop, Disney, or Choir pieces. We learn by listening, matching pitch, and breaking the song down line-by-line to master the timing and vocal dynamics.
3. Acting the Song & Stage Presence (15 Mins): A great singer is also a great storyteller. Drawing from my 5 years of acting experience, I teach students how to connect with the lyrics, use facial expressions, conquer stage fright, and deliver a performance that leaves an impact.
