About Meli

Hi! My name is Meli and I am a University of California Merced alumna with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and Psychology and a minor in Sociology. I have experience working in the classroom, helping students build confidence, improve their grades and reach their goals at El Nido Elementary School, in a neighboring city of Merced, CA. At El Nido, I assisted both inside the classroom and during after school hours, with students ranging from TK to 8th grade. I not only tutored students to enhance their Spanish skills but also tutored ESL learners, and students who learned in different ways than the standard classroom norms. I worked with many students diagnosed with ADHD, and helped them thrive in their academics, accommodating to their specific needs, as I am a strong believer that every student learns differently and therefore it is important to be accommodating, encouraging and pressure-free. I am very accommodating, adaptable, approachable and patient, I explain difficult concepts in ways that are easier to understand and I help students feel more confident and independent. I work with all ages, learning needs and styles. If you are looking for a tutor who is committed to helping you or your child succeed, I would love to work with you!

About the lesson

I am a friendly and patient individual who loves working with kids and adults of all ages, aiding them in enhancing their language, social and emotional skills, so that they become prepared for each new year ahead. I have experience tutoring Spanish and English, in speaking, reading, writing and listening for students as young as 4 years old. I have experience working in the classroom with students grades K-8, and adults. I am able to personalize topics and lessons for each individual's learning needs, have worked with ESL students, students of different learning needs, and learning difficulties. I have formed long-term relationships with my students and families and I care deeply for my student's growth.
