About Matthew

Matt holds a Master's in Music Composition from Bowling Green State University and has continued his development through private study with faculty from major conservatories worldwide. His approach is grounded in historical texts, not as dogma, but as a map of how the best practices for musical thinking have actually been structured and transmitted over time.

He is also a systems-driven learner who studies how real skill is built across disciplines. In addition to music, he works in programming and AI development, studies Russian language, and comes from a professional background in fine wine and hospitality: fields that demand precision, memory, pattern recognition, and disciplined habit formation.

His teaching reflects that cross-disciplinary thinking. He approaches musicianship the way he approaches language acquisition, software design, and tasting: through structure, feedback loops, deliberate practice, and alignment between environment, tools, and psychology. Most importantly, his attitude is one of honesty, integrity, and someone who is actually invested in your progress.

Matthew designs custom curricula to build automaticity over time, with a focus on practical harmony, structural ear development, composition, and improvisation, particularly for students who feel capable but under-formed and seek clarity instead of noise.

He is currently building an online platform and community dedicated to advanced musicianship and long-term structural fluency.
