About Sonya
I have a bachelors degree with honours in biology. I worked as a molecular biology research assistant at my university working with Canadian endangered whale species, but have recently transitioned into environmental work. I have been a tutor and teaching assistant through most of my years in University and love to help others gain deeper understanding about biology.

My teaching methods include asking the student guiding questions to help them find the answer on their own, rather than telling it to them. This can be frustrating for some students so I also like to use many different analogies and use props to help explain concepts. I break things down into simple steps and ensure the students understand each one before moving to the next. I strive to know how best a student learns (visually, audible, hands on, etc.) and work my teaching style around them.
