About Annabel

Hello. I graduated from the University of Exeter in 2019 with a high 2:1 in Modern Languages (French and Italian), and I have taught English as a foreign language at schools in both Rome and Paris. During this time, not only did I significantly improve my understand of French and Italian, I also offered private tutoring to help my clients improve their English. So, with experience in teaching adults, teenagers and young children, whose motivations for learning ranged from academic support, preparing for exams and general desire to feel more confident speaking in a different language, I know how to suitably prepare and adapt my content so that it is tailored to your learning experience and needs.
With my previous adult clients, I have also offered both informal conversation classes as well as more formal and structured preparation for upcoming language exams, where we have discussed tricky grammar points, consolidated this learning with exercises, and reviewed articles to acquire more complex vocabulary. The key is to do a mixture of listening, reading, writing and speaking practice in order to fully feel at ease with speaking a new language.

About the lesson

I have experience teaching both adults and younger learners, so can adapt my teaching style to suit you and your learning goals.
With my younger clients, I have introduced new grammar points and vocabulary through both online language and conversation games, as well as informal conversation practice exercises. If the classes seem too daunting, younger learners can feel discouraged, so this is something I avoid - learning a language requires confidence, so I like to build confidence by learning a language in a fun and interactive learning environment.

Details

If you have a more advanced level of Italian, or are preparing for exams, and therefore would like to me to set and mark homework outside of the class time (e.g. written exercises, grammar, past paper marking etc.), I ask that the rate be increased to £20/hour - this will only apply to the classes where marking is needed.
